The Guide.

// READ THIS FIRST

Looksmaxxing is the practice of optimizing your appearance through compounding small improvements. The metrics below are what Facient scores and what observers subconsciously process when assessing facial attractiveness.

Some metrics move fast — skin, body fat, hair, posture show measurable gains in 6–12 weeks. Others move slowly or require surgery — jaw, chin, midface, IPD. Be realistic about what's reachable in 30 days vs 3 years.

// PILLAR 01

HARMONY

Proportions, ratios, and how the parts compose into a whole.

5 METRICS
HARMONY · METRIC 01

MIDFACE

// IDEAL
Midface-to-lower-face ratio < 1.0, compact malar region
// WHY IT MATTERS
The distance from upper lip to lower eyelid. Shorter midface reads more youthful and masculine; longer midface drags down harmony scores significantly.
// HOW TO MAXX
Maxillary expansion, mewing for tongue posture, palate work, jaw advancement (advanced)
HARMONY · METRIC 02

LIP RATIO

// IDEAL
Upper-to-lower lip volume ratio near 1:1.6
// WHY IT MATTERS
Lower lip should be ~60% larger than the upper. Overly thin or overly puffy lips both score below average — the golden ratio applies here too.
// HOW TO MAXX
Lip hydration, exfoliation, fillers for proportion correction (advanced)
HARMONY · METRIC 03

PHILTRUM

// IDEAL
Length ~15% of lower third, well-defined columella
// WHY IT MATTERS
Short, well-defined philtrum indicates youth and harmony. Long philtrums look aged; flat philtrums look characterless.
// HOW TO MAXX
Mewing helps over years, lip lift surgery for adults with long philtrums (advanced)
HARMONY · METRIC 04

IPD

// IDEAL
Interpupillary distance ~46% of face width
// WHY IT MATTERS
Eyes too close together (<43%) read as beady. Too far apart (>48%) reads as off. The brain calibrates this in milliseconds.
// HOW TO MAXX
Mostly fixed at adulthood. Glasses and brow shaping create perceptual adjustments.
HARMONY · METRIC 05

FOREHEAD

// IDEAL
Height ~33% of total face height, balanced width
// WHY IT MATTERS
Equal facial thirds is the canonical ideal. Forehead too tall = elongated look. Too short = compressed look.
// HOW TO MAXX
Hair styling, hairline transplant for height reduction (advanced)
// PILLAR 02

ANGULARITY

Bone structure. Jaw, chin, cheeks, neck — the masculine bracketing.

4 METRICS
ANGULARITY · METRIC 01

JAWLINE

// IDEAL
Sharp gonial angle 115–120°, visible ramus, defined border
// WHY IT MATTERS
The single most impactful masculine feature. A defined jaw signals testosterone, low body fat, and structural harmony. Most observers form judgement on this alone within 200ms.
// HOW TO MAXX
Mewing, chewing hard gum (mastic), low body fat %, jaw filler/implants (advanced)
ANGULARITY · METRIC 02

CHIN

// IDEAL
Forward projection past Steiner's line, balanced vertical proportion
// WHY IT MATTERS
A projected chin is critical for facial balance. Recessed chins drag harmony scores down disproportionately. The chin is the cornerstone of the lower third.
// HOW TO MAXX
Chin tucks, mewing, chin filler / genioplasty implant (advanced)
ANGULARITY · METRIC 03

CHEEKBONES

// IDEAL
Prominent zygomatic arches with hollow under, strong lateral projection
// WHY IT MATTERS
High, wide cheekbones create the iconic 'model' look. They define the upper half of the face and frame the eyes.
// HOW TO MAXX
Lose body fat, buccal fat removal, malar implants/fillers (advanced)
ANGULARITY · METRIC 04

NECK

// IDEAL
Long, defined sternocleidomastoid, proportional width
// WHY IT MATTERS
A defined neck is the unsung hero of facial photography. A weak or fatty neck makes even a great jaw look mediocre.
// HOW TO MAXX
Neck training, posture correction, lose body fat
// PILLAR 03

EYE AREA

Hunter eyes, canthal tilt, the periorbital region — where attraction lives.

3 METRICS
EYE AREA · METRIC 01

EYE AREA

// IDEAL
Positive canthal tilt +3° to +5°, almond shape, lateral display
// WHY IT MATTERS
Almond-shaped eyes with slight upward tilt at the outer corners. Considered the #1 most attractive eye shape across cultures.
// HOW TO MAXX
Lose orbital fat, sleep, reduce eye strain, canthoplasty (advanced)
EYE AREA · METRIC 02

HUNTER EYES

// IDEAL
Deep-set with upper-lid hooding, visible sulcus
// WHY IT MATTERS
The 'predator gaze' — deep-set eyes with hooded upper lids create the iconic masculine eye area. Round, prominent eyes are softer and read more childlike.
// HOW TO MAXX
Sleep, hydration, brow training. Genetics determine ceiling.
EYE AREA · METRIC 03

SYMMETRY

// IDEAL
Bilateral facial symmetry > 95%
// WHY IT MATTERS
The brain reads symmetry as health and genetic fitness. Even minor asymmetries are subconsciously noticed and reduce attraction ratings.
// HOW TO MAXX
Sleep on your back, avoid chewing on one side, posture work
// PILLAR 04

PRESENTATION

Skin, hair, nose — the canvas and frame your structure presents on.

3 METRICS
PRESENTATION · METRIC 01

SKIN

// IDEAL
Clear, even-toned, low pore visibility, no active acne
// WHY IT MATTERS
Skin is the canvas. Even a perfect bone structure looks worse with poor skin. This is the fastest-moving metric — visible gains in 6–8 weeks.
// HOW TO MAXX
Tretinoin 0.025% nightly, sunscreen SPF50 daily, no dairy/sugar, sleep 8+ hrs, hydration
PRESENTATION · METRIC 02

HAIRLINE

// IDEAL
Norwood 1 shape, no recession, well-framed
// WHY IT MATTERS
Hairline frames the entire face. A receding or poorly-shaped hairline disrupts facial thirds and ages you a decade visually.
// HOW TO MAXX
Finasteride 1mg daily, minoxidil 5%, derma rolling, transplant (advanced)
PRESENTATION · METRIC 03

NOSE

// IDEAL
Straight bridge, defined tip, nostril width ≤ intercanthal distance
// WHY IT MATTERS
Should harmonize — not too prominent, not too small. The nose is the center, so symmetry and balance matter more than absolute size.
// HOW TO MAXX
Posture, breathing through nose (not mouth), rhinoplasty (advanced)
